My New Space

Just a place for me to express ME…

Second Year December 12, 2009

Well, I was so busy lately that I’ve kept on delaying about this entry for quite awhile. I did not do it on purpose honestly, it just that I was so tired after coming home from work. Even though I determined to write something, all I could do was staring at the screen, flicking on other people’s blogs. Well, that was my life for the past few weeks.

Anyway, back to the topic… well, we (my husband and I) went to ‘Bora Ombak’ to celebrate our second year anniversary. It’s a restaurant with Balinese concept. Located in Ampang, at first, we had difficulty finding the place. Not that it is situated in a secluded area of Ampang, but because we would never imagine that it would be next to the Sport’s World. I could never imagine an eatery next to the futsal court! But it is… and believe me, once you are inside you would never know or notice the ‘huu huu haa haa’ sounds of the futsal supporters next door coz’ you won’t hear a thing except the soothing melody of Balinese music with the sounds of ‘gong’ once in a while.

To tell you the truth, I first heard of ‘Bora Ombak’ when my aunt invited us there to celebrate her daughter’s birthday, but sadly we have to decline coz’ we had something to do on that day. Then, the name ‘Bora Ombak’ pop-up again when the club committees at my work place recommended Bora Ombak for our boss’s upcoming farewell party. But due to some circumstances, it has been cancelled. Since then, I keep on asking “ What about this Bora Ombak that people keep on talking about?”

We first went to search for that place on one of the weekends. After circling that particular ‘Ampang’ area for sometimes, Boon and I managed to find it. And like I’ve mentioned earlier, my first reaction was ‘What??? Next to the futsal???” Anyway, we went to that place and they just only finished organized a wedding reception there. Boon went to see the person in-charge and while he did the talking I did the ‘watching’. Oh my, the place is beautiful with lots of statues- wearing- sarong (like the ones you see in Bali), a ‘gong’ and there are also tent- like places as well as ‘bangsals’ if you wish to eat outside. The surrounding is beautiful BUT  I didn’t take my camera with me so, you can just imagine it with my words :(

We decided to have dinner there, on our second year anniversary. The place, at night is as beautiful as in the day. Except that, I think it’s more serene with soothing Balinese music on air, dim light and courteous waiters and waitresses. We were happy there well, except for the food. Anyway, we might choose a different menu if we go there again.

Another thing that I found interesting was the ‘poco-poco’ dance. They have it every Wednesday night. It was a kind of line dance but this one is originated from Indonesia. Well, I know the basic ‘poco-poco’ dance, but if you are wondering whether I dance that night or not…, the answer is no… I was too shy… haiya.
